Denali - Also known as Mt. McKinley, is the highest mountain in North America. Denali was named by local Tanaina people, meaning "The Great One" in the Athabaskan language.
Your first step in connecting to the great land with an endless horizon is a leisurely drive on the Parks Hwy. Those who have the opportunity to take the guided journey through Denali National Park's single road will have the privilege of seeing an intact ecosystem. Denali is much the same today as it was centuries ago. Every turn of the road may bring a new wonder as you travel into the vast, untamed wilderness. Watch for ptarmigans, golden eagles, moose, dall sheep, bears, wolf, fox, and more. Seeing Mt. McKinley from the ground towering 20,320 feet high above tundra is awesome on a clear day. But seeing Mt. McKinley from the air on a flightseeing excursion is a rare and privileged experience-- a must for many visitors. If you are adventurous try rafting through the canyons.
